Our Mission

Preserving Africa's
Last Wilderness

The Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) is the national tourism marketing body mandated to promote Botswana as a premier tourist destination. We work to position Botswana as a world-leading sustainable tourism destination while ensuring tourism development benefits all Batswana.

Our approach is guided by the principle of "high value, low volume" tourism— ensuring that visitors enjoy exclusive, uncrowded experiences while minimizing environmental impact and maximizing benefits to local communities.

Since independence in 1966, Botswana has demonstrated that conservation and economic development can go hand in hand. With nearly 40% of our land dedicated to protected areas, we are committed to ensuring this natural heritage remains intact for future generations.

"Tourism must create value, not just volume."

— Botswana Tourism Policy
